About the Event
Connections is a weekly chance to get to know other parent carers in Bracknell Forest. We understand that being the parent carer of a child/young person with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) can be confusing, lonely and difficult to navigate. We want to ensure that you are able to create connections with others like you. But more than that we want you to be able to feedback directly to those services that are helping your family.
· Tea & Talk. On the first and third Monday of the month, we will continue to invite officers from Bracknell Forest Council and Frimley ICB to come and talk to us about areas they work in that need to improve. The idea is that they take time to make connections with parent carers to find a way of working where everyone works together on an equal basis to create a service or come to a decision which works for all. Listening to us can influence the way their service is run based on the valued lived experience of our families.
· Craft & Create. On the second Monday of the month, we get together to explore some creativity. Don’t worry if you can barely draw a stick man, we will have plenty of options to suit everyone. Or, if you’d prefer, feel free to bring along a craft of your own! We provide the tea, coffee, and biscuits, you provide the conversation!
· Caring for carers. On the fourth Monday of the month, we will focus on caring for ourselves as carers. We might have activities, speakers or wellbeing time.
We will be meeting at The Oaks Family Hub in the Family Room every Monday in term time from 10am-12noon.
· 10-10:30 will be time to catch up with others
· 10:30-10:45 we will get ready for our activity
· 10:45-11:45 is when we will do our activity
· 11:45-12 is wind down time, getting ready to go back into our week knowing we’ve made new connections!
We are currently only running term time, but watch this space for future updates.
