We know many of you are waiting for the SEND White Paper and wondering what it will mean for your child or young person, especially after all of the leaks, speculation, and reports in the press. With so much information circulating, we wanted to make a few things clear. As soon as the final version is published, we will take time to read it carefully. We have not seen the White Paper yet and, like everyone else, will only be able to review it once it is officially released. W

The Government intends to address councils' accumulated SEND deficits by: • Covering 90% of councils’ accumulated SEND deficits. • Providing a grant in Autumn 2026 to enable councils to clear these deficits. However, this funding is conditional: • Each local authority must submit a local SEND reform plan • The plan must be approved by the Department for Education (DfE) Local areas have been asked to assess their current arrangements for their local SEND reform plans to measur
